| Candidates' campaign through SMSs earning positive response..! | | Elections to MLCs under Panchayat quota | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 21: While the heat in the political battle field has started picking up, the prospective candidates of different political parties as well as independent candidates seems to be preferring minimum expenses and using hi-tech system to woo the voters. As less than a fortnight is left to cast votes, the candidates are unable to reach at each and every voter's house to convince him/her to cast vote in their favour, so number of candidates are using their team members (supporters) to use the services of mobile phones i.e. Short Message Service (SMS) to woo the voters (Panchs and Sarpanchs). Insiders in almost all the political parties revealed to Early Times that "though it's not that difficult to reach to the elected Panchs and Sarpanchs who are known for their respective political lineage but still a handsome chunk of elected Panchs and Sarpanchs is those that have won on independent basis and they do not have any political affiliations. As it is not that easy for the candidate to cover each and every Panchayat Halqa so the candidates have adopted to make calls on the mobile phones of the voters or write an SMS with details of the agenda and pass it on to scores of Panchs and Sarpanchs." "The idea of choosing the Short Message Service (SMS) of mobile phone services to reach out to the people to explain and convince them to follow respective parties' policies and ideology looks unusual but it has attracted the voters," expressed political observers and further added that "the Panchs and Sarpanchs are feeling high as almost all the prospective candidates of even national and regional political parties are calling them up on their mobile phones one after another to seek the precious vote in their favour." Speaking to Early Times one of the candidates in fray claimed that "this idea-first of its kind-is doing wonders. After receiving the SMS, the voters (Panchs and Sarpanchs) are replying with SMS from their end very positively. Through SMSs, I have projected and explained how Jammu region has been discriminated in all spheres and how it continues to be as it is, even while we have young Chief Minister." |
