| Illegal appointments, undue promotions in DC Office Shopian | | ‘Committee looking into the matter’ | | early times report Srinagar, Nov 21: A scam of fake recruitments and undue promotions has surfaced in Deputy Commissioner's office Shopian. Data received from credible sources reveals that illegal recruitments and undue promotions were made largely over the years by some already working people in the office. The recruitment of seven people Farooq Ahmad Sodagar ,Nisar Ahmad Khan, Abdul Rashid Sheikh, Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, Zakir Hussain Khan, Zarak Jahan Padder and Yasir Mohidin Bhat was made by the close relatives of these people already working in DC office Shopian. People recruited illegally not only fall short of educational qualifications but some of them also fall in under age category, revealed the data. .One Ali Mohammad Khan, who is a cook to DC Shopian has got his son Zakir Husain Khan appointed as orderly and son in law, Mushtaq Ahmad Dar as driver by using his proximity with the DC. It is also revealed that Mushtaq Ahmad Dar was not eligible for the post of driver because he does not possess Hill status license. Another employee Wazira Ji has not only managed to upgrade herself from the post of junior assistant to senior assistant but also got her 15 year and 11 month old son Yasir Mohi ud Din appointed as orderly on 18.8.2011. According to the school records of Yasir Mohi ud Din,his actual date of birth is 04.01.1995,while as in the official records it has been mentioned as 04.01.1993. The data furher reveals that Sheeraz Ahmad Thoker who was appointed in 2008 on S.R.O basis has earned an undue promotion and is currently enjoying the status of junior assistant in the department, while as Mushtaq Ahmad Dar who was appointed as junior assistant has also managed to upgrade himself from junior assistant to senior assistant. Sources said that above mentioned employees completely control the DC office Shopian and promote and demote people as per their will and taste. Sources also said that the inter-departmental investigation going on in this matter is only an attention diverting phenomenon. They said that all these appointments and undue promotions were made in nexus with highly placed officials in the department after spending huge amounts of money over the years. Deputy Commissioner Shopian Mohammad Javaid Khan said, a committee had been constituted to look into the matter and "we are hopeful of fair results in near future."
