early times report JAMMU, Nov 22: Guided by superb innings played by the duo of Raj Kumar and Akash Bhola, host University of Jammu (JU) not only piled highest total but registered a huge 69 runs win over PAU Ludhiana to make it second win in a row in the ongoing All India Vice Chancellor's Twenty20 Cup Cricket Tournament at University of Jammu grounds, here today. With today's win, JU has brighten their prospects for making it to the next knock stages of quarterfinals from group-A. Earlier, JU won the toss and decided to bat first they set a challenging total of 184 runs for the loss of four wickets, which, in reply, PAU Ludhiana could not chase and the whole side bowled out for 114 runs in 19.3 overs. Raj Kumar scored highest 33-ball 60 runs studded with seven boundaries and three sixes while Akash Bhola made 43 runs hitting seven fours. Rajesh Verma and Ameet Targotra as also skipper Dawood Baba also did a fine job adding 26, 18 and 15 runs to the total respectively. From PAU Ludhiana, Surinder Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Parveen Kumar took one wicket each. Batting second, PAU succumbed to the pressure built by the duo of Pawan Singh and Niranjan Singh and lost all their wickets for 114 runs in 19.3 overs. Jagtar Chand was top scorer with 37 runs. From JU, Pawan Singh and Niranjan shared three wickets each. Raj Kumar was obvious choice for the man of the match title and the trophy as also a cricket bat was presented to him by special guest, Medical Officer of JU, Dr Poonam Sethi. Meanwhile, in another match of the day, SKUAST Kashmir outplayed Delhi University by seven wickets. Batting first, Delhi University made 138 runs for nine with Sanjay being highest run getter. Sanjay scored 43-ball 55 runs while Narinder Singh and Sanjay Kumar added 32 and 19 runs in their respective account. Mudassir and Ayub took two wickets each from SKUAST Kashmir. In reply, SKUAST Kashmir overhauled the opponent total making 139 runs in 17.5 overs losing just three wickets. Gowhar played fire brand innings of 42-ball 54 runs including two fours and five sixes. Imtiaz and Rifat made valuable contributions of 33 and 19 runs respectively. Gowhar was adjudged man of the match. In an evening session league match, Pune University defeated Jamia Milia Islamia University Delhi by five wickets. Batting first, Jamia Milia set a target of 120 runs for eight, which, in reply, Pune University chased in just 18.3 ovrs with five wickets in hand. Nitin Parsad was declared man of the match for making 32-ball 45 runs. He was presented the trophy and cricket bat, sponsored by Sunil Sports, by special guest, Dr Shalinder Singh Jamwal. The fourth league tie of the day was won by Mumbai University by a comfortable margin of 51 runs against Education Board Ajmer in Rajasthan. Earlier, Mumbai made 157 runs losing all their wickets. In reply, Education Board played slow innings and could make only 106 runs for seven in given 20 overs to lose the match. Chanderkant was given the man of the match trophy for taking three important wickets for winners Mumbai University.
