Jammu, Nov 22: In a vindication of sorts to the charges of discrimination, Jammu is yet to figure in Omar's idea of taking his government to the doorsteps of the people of the remote areas of the state by holding cabinet meetings in these remote rendezvous.
He had even proudly announced on the micro blogging site "Once a month we will meet in a remote part of the state. Gurez,Machil and Keran".
Omar kept his promise and on May 30 after attending the meeting he once again shared his thoughts on the social networking site. "Had a very productive visit to Karnah. "Time will tell if we are able to deliver the results of such cabinet meeting to the areas we visit".
On the same day Omar had also announced schedule of his next meeting.
"Next month a similar cabinet meeting will be held in Gurez. Last wednesday of every month the cabinet will meet outside
Srinagar/Jammu."
Despite announcing the schedule himself Chief Minister Omar Abdullah could not chair even one meeting outside the summer capital in remote areas of the state either in Kashmir/Jammu division for next three months for reasons best known to him.
After a long wait the second meeting took place in Gurez in the second week of September.
Now two months have passed again and the Chief Minister is yet to announce the schedule of his next meeting in far off remote district of the state.
Meanwhile, public representatives across Jammu division are keen to host the state cabinet but in the absence of any final word they are
all waiting for their turn.
A Congress MLA from Doda region claimed, if during summer Chief Minister visited remote places of Kashmir now it is time for him to visit land locked Doda district to review the functioning of road construction/medical health and education, water supply schemes. Once he will visit the remote places he would get a firsthand account of real pace of work on ground zero in remote places, the MLA said.
A panthers party legislator said, in the last four years the coalition govt has done very little in terms of real work. He said first he raised hopes of people and now their dreams are shattering as he has completely failed to deliver on his tall promises.
A congress MLA said"though we have not heard any thing about the schedule of the cabinet meeting in our remote area but we definitely want that Chief Minister should visit our area and see for himself the hardships faced by people in the absence of road network, absence of adequate health and education facilities".The Congress MLA said we
have already boycotted the previous district development board meeting to highlight the grievances of people as development projects were not fast paced and moving at snails pace.
