| Has Congress shut its office in Srinagar …or merged with NC for now…….? | | PCC functionaries converging at NC party headquarters | | early times report Jammu, Nov 22: Congress and National Conference, the two different political outfits have turned into one entity these days, thanks to the humdrum and enthusiasm of both the ruling allies for ensuing Legislative Council polls. The bonhomie between the two parties on this is to such an extent that Congress has virtually shut its own party headquarters in Srinagar and it looks the party for now has completely merged with NC. Sources said that ever since the leadership of both the parties decided to contest the elections together , taking mutual political interests into account, enthusiasm among the senior leaders, some ministers and the functionaries of PCC have turned the scene in the field appear that there is no difference between them and those of their counterparts from NC. Sources said while candidates along with leaders of both the parties jointly tour the places and the joint campaign spree is gaining momentum, what makes things little surprising for the Congress mode of functioning is that they converge at the NC party headquarters Nawai Subuh complex almost daily in the evening and sit with NC leaders to discuss next day's strategy and programmes. Sources said besides Congress' candidate GN Monga, senior functionaries of Congress and even some leaders make it to NC headquarters, feel quite convenient to sit and chat , some of them making it as a relaxing jaunt after day's hectic schedule in the evening. The party office of Congress is presenting a deserted look as there is no activity nor do any functionaries visit these days, sources said adding that other than security personnel and peons, no one is seen in the Congress party office. The bonhomie between the allies, which are otherwise poles apart and remain miffed one even trivial matters against each other, is making things easier for Congress mainly, say the sources that it is NC leadership and the Minister of Rural Development Ali Mohammad Sagar who also heads the alliance election panel, on whose directions the programmes are chalked out and followed next day. However, the way Congress is conducting itself by almost camping at NC headquarters and the manner NC is calling its shots for campaign, is making Congress functionaries somewhat subservient to ruling NC while the former follow instructions and directions made at the NC office. The moot question remains is Congress making itself do for some strategic political reasons or are its functionaries more comfortable while sitting at NC office with the NC functionaries…….? Whatever the reason, it is giving an impression to the observers that Congress has virtually merged with the ruling partner , no matter for a short duration and all for the sake of an electoral victory…
