| Huge traffic jam on National Highway near Bari Brahmana | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 26: Failure of the authorities to make any alternative after the Balole Nullah bridge was declared unsafe for vehicular traffic, the traffic chaos are daily witnessed on Jammu-Pathankote National Highway putting the commuters to many hardships. Today a huge traffic jam for over two kilometers from Bari -Brahmanah to Kunjwani was witnessed during the peak hours as the old bridge which has been thrown open for traffic after closing the new bridge does not cater to the heavy traffic rush especially during the peak hours. Hundreds of vehicles coming from neighboring states as well as Kathua, Samba, Jammu and Srinagar were trapped in the jam for hours together. Some of the passengers who had to attend the immediate engagements in Jammu could not reach in time due to traffic jam and they were cursing the authorities for the total mismanagement. The people of the area and daily passengers while talking to this reporter said that it has become a routine affair of traffic jams on this patch of National Highway since the bridge was declared unsafe in July this year. Knowing fully that the National Highway is the lifeline of the people of the state the Government should have taken steps to renovate the bridge on war footing basis but after the elapse of over four months the problem is there and it will continue in future also. They also made a dig at the authorities for allowing the query work beneath the abutment of the bridge which not only caused a damage to the newly constructed bridge on the National Highway but also a huge loss to state exchequer, they added. The negligence of the authorities and concerned departments led to the problem, they said adding had the authorities not allowed query beneath the abutment of the bridge the problem would have been averted. It may be declared that newly constructed bridge on Balole Nullah near Bari Brahmana was declared unsafe for vehicular traffic after its abutment were found hanging as the entire land beneath it has eroded due to querying. |
