| Omar concedes its only Cong-PDP fight | | | early times report Jammu, Nov 26: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has conceded that it will be PDP-Congress fight in the next Assembly with NC playing the role of either a second fiddle. "Omar by announcing pre-poll alliance even before the elections, has conceded the hard fact that NC is not in the picture and it will be a fight between PDP and Congress," said a senior NC leader not wishing to be named. The CM in his addresses at different rallies for the MLC elections has been saying that NC-Cong will go in for poll alliance. Though Congress hasn't made any comment about it, while Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma, has discounted it by saying party high command will take decision on it. It has also created flutters in the NC camp, with Mustafa Kamaal, uncle of Omar Abdullah, had also expressed reservation about it. The signs of eagerness of Omar, to stitch up alliance, was made clear when for the first time in the history of National Conference, Congress leader Soz and Cong candidate Monga, were invited to the party office in Srinagar. NC had not only disliked Cong but had in the past termed it is a party of Sewerage worms,". The incidents had left many senior leaders in the NC taking strong exception to the entry of Cong leaders at the party headquarters in Srinagar from where it has launched strong anti-Cong and anti-India campaign to make its distinct, though dubious identity, in the Valley, and it helped to galvanise its cadre. "Can you imagine late Sheikh Abdullah, whom Omar holds very dear, allowing Sadiq or Bakshi to enter into the party office. Omar is just reversing the hard-work of cadre just to keep himself in good books of Cong to stay in power," said a NC leader. PPD, which had secured highest percentage of vote in last elections, is trying hard and making serious efforts to enlarge its base in Jammu. Party is hopeful of getting atleast two seats from Jammu district itself. Cong is trying to revive its party cadre in the Valley and it's getting positive response. Senior Congress leader, who want to expand the party tally from just three seats from Kashmir in the last elections, are making serious efforts on that count. NC is not only loosing politically but it's going away from the minds of the people and it's for this reason that Omar is making desperate measures.
