| NC in more advantageous position in tie up with Cong | | | early times report JAMMU, Nov 26: With Congress and National Conference (NC) contesting one seat each in Kashmir Valley and Jammu region on Party level, the former ahs conceded its support base to NC in Jammu and allowed the later to consolidate its position in the region where the Party had a strong base and where it used to sweep the elections previously. There is already a brewing resentment among the Congmen in the state over the Party decision to continue coalition with NC even after the controversial statements given by NC Additional General secretary and former Minister Dr Mustafa Kamal. According to sources majority of Congress workers who are not satisfied with Parties alliance with NC, are of the opinion that the coalition instead of Congress will help NC to consolidate its position in Jammu region where the Congress had a strong base. Sources said some Congress ministers who have also taken the serious exception to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's recent statement of continuing alliance with Congress in 2014 Assembly elections have not only termed it premature but damaging the party's poll prospectus in Jammu. Sources said that the Congmen who have reservations against the alliance are of the opinion that by leaving one MLC seat to NC in Jammu region the Congress is conceding its base to NC and this will prove tantamount to poll prospectus of the party in future. Sources said that some Congmen during a recent meeting with senior party leaders including Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad and PCC chief Saif-ud-Din Soz have categorically told them that this kind of tie up will be damaging for Congress in the state. The Cong workers have informed the party leaders that Congress could have feared better in Jammu had if fought the MLC elections independently and it could have also mobalised support in Kashmir by pursuing the Pannchs and Sarpanchs on its own level to for Party nominee but after tying up with NC this was not possible now, sources added. Sources said the Congmen were of the opinion that PDP was in a position to damage the coalition in Kashmir and it had already eroded the base of NC as not Congress but NC was main rival of PDP. Now with Congress and NC fighting elections jointly the PDP will target both alliance partners by raising the issue of empowerment of Panchayats in the state to its advantage. This way PDP can damage the alliance in Valley while as there was no such threat in Jammu and in case the Congress could have lost its seats in Valley it could have managed to win two in Jammu. But while conceding one seat to NC the Congress has allowed the Party to built its base in Jammu, sources said. Sources said the Congmen have also made it clear to Party leadership that it was NC which was in advantage in having tie up with Congress as it won assembly elections in those areas of Jammu also where the Congress had never allowed any party emerge victorious earlier while it conceded maximum seats in Valley to PDP. In comparison to that the Congress even during strong NC wave had managed to win two seats in Valley whose number in last Assembly elections has increased to three.
