Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 28: Protests were held against the alleged failure of the government to solve the traffic problems in Jammy city on Wednesday.
Hundreds of people including traders took out rally on Amphalla-Janipur High Court Road up to Miana Dido Chowk, Rehari Chungi BC Road demanding that work on three flyovers in the city be stated simultaneously.
Addressing the protesters, Sunil Dimple president Jammu West Assembly Movement held PWD, ERA, JMC and JDA responsible for the worst traffic scenario in Jammu city. Dimple alleged that the Omar Abdullah government was not constructing the flyovers at Rehari Chungi, and Jewal Chowk due to "political vendetta" as the constituency was represented by the opposition MLAs.
He alleged that neither funds have been sanctioned for the construction of the flyover at Vikram Chowk nor tenders have not been called.
"No contractor is available for this project but the ERA CEO Sourab Bhagat has started damaging the wall of the Kala Kender and the public property. Bhagat pleased the Chief Minister by ribbon cutting and inaugural function without doing any ground work," he alleged.
Appealing the Chief Minister to simultaneously start the construction work of flovers at Vikram Chowk, Jewal Chowk, and Rehari Chungi, he said, "People of the city shouldn't be discriminated on the basis of their party affiliations." He urged Omar, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand and Transport minister Qamar Ali Akhoon to come up with time bound policy to solve the worsening traffic problem in Jammu city.
Dimple demanded construction of multi storied parking at Panjterthi, Supper Bazaar Shalmar, and at Bus Stand Jammu and installation of more traffic signal lights in the city.
He also demanded for construction of alternative four way circular road from Amphalla Manda to High Court Janipur to Roop Nagar, Bantalab to ease the traffic problem.
