| Bijbehara blast leaves 3 injured, Minister confined to home | | | Saahil Suhail Anantnag, Nov 28: Late evening grenade blast hurled on CRPF jawans on National Highway left two CRPF men and one civilian injured while terrified by the incident, a Cabinet Minister camping in the town confined himself to his ancestral house and cancelled his scheduled return to Srinagar. Eyewitnesses said that the grenade was hurled on CRPF jawans of 90 battalion, at around 5.45pm on National Highway near Arwani Crossing, a busy market that mostly remains chocked because of heavy traffic, has left two CRPF men and one civilian injured. Injured were identified as Assistant Sub Inspector, V S Redday, Constable Ram Vilas and one civilian Umar Habib (13) s/o Habib-ul-allah resident of Bijbehara, who were immediately admitted in Sub Distrcit Hospital Bijbehara. However, Constable Ram Vilas and civilian Umar Habib were later referred to SKIMS for further treatment. Soon after the incident, Police and other security officers rushed towards the spot and took stock of the situation. Police along with other security forces has launched a manhunt to trap the suspected militants. Meanwhile, Peerzada Mohammad Sayed, Cabinet Minister without portfolio who was today in the district along with party candidates for forthcoming LC elections and was scheduled to rush back to Srinagar, cancelled his program after he was informed about the grenade attack and rather than visiting the spot to take stock of the situation confined himself in his ancestral home at Damhal Hanji-pora, sources inside the district police revealed. However, repeated attempts to contact the Minister failed. Meanwhile, the District Magistrate Srinagar has imposed curfew in some areas with immediate effect. The District Magistrate Srinagar has imposed curfew in the police station areas of Nowhatta, M Gunj, Safakadal, Khanyar, Rainawari, Nigeen, Lalbazar, Zadibal and Parimpora with immediate effect, till further orders. "The civil and police administration are monitoring the situation. There are no reports of anybody getting injured however, sporadic incidents of stone pelting have been reported", the police spokesperson said. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr Asgar Samoon confirmed that curfew had been imposed across 9 police stations in the city. "It is a precautionary step to ensure that no untoward incident take place in the city", Samoon told over phone.
