| BJP trying to cash in on anti coalition sentiment among PR members | | Campaign punch: NC, Cong entrapping on hollow assurances | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 28: Even as the ruling coalition is throwing its all might in the ongoing campaign in support of candidates for forthcoming LC polls, a whole lot of uncertainty on the mood of Panchayat Me-mbers prevails . The fact that not all Panchayat me-mbers are happy with the government for a host of reasons is making both NC as well as Congress worried, though both the parties are trying their best to 'woo' them by all means. BJP, though not having stronger stakes too is on the job, trying to cash in on the 'anti government' sentiment of a majority of Panches and Sarpanches in many areas. BJP has put up its two candidates in Jammu region and its one candidate is contesting from Kashmir region. The leadership of the party with many senior leaders and functionaries have been moving on with zest and zeal, no less than ruling alliance partners and campaigning for their candidates. What makes the party optimistic and work with a little more enthusiasm is the hard and harsh reality for the coalition partners that a number of Panches and Sarpanches from many areas in Jammu who can tilt the outcome are angry and quite unhappy with Congress as also the NC. The main ground of resentment is their deep sense of betrayal on hollow and false commitments made by the coalition for over one year now, something which that has disillusioned their voters on the grass root level. Sources said the BJP leaders and candidates who are on their campaign spree are making this point that even though NC and Congress may show them skies at the moment to allure for garnering votes, but this allurement would be for a brief as both NC and Congress are known for strategy of pushing people to side once their purpose is served. BJP leaders are also trying to make Panches and Sarpanches understand that even though they may decide to be by Congress and NC side for some petty interests at the time of polls, but in the longer run they shall have to wait in vain for actual empowerment and their functioning on the ground level , a job for which they have been elected by the masses. Moreover, once by their side, they shall have to toe the line of the government policies which are only illusionary and confusing mainly because NC and Congress are poles apart and do not converge at any point on the crucial matter of empowerment to Panchayats. BJP is also pushing in on the reality so far the government has not been able to fix the honorarium of the panches and Sarpanches . It is also raking up the most sensitive issue of the security of PR members in vulnerable areas of the state, on which the leaders of NC and Congress including the Chief Minister has shown indifference and ourightly stated that security was not needed at all
