| "Mufti has vision, political capital to solve people's issues" | | Former bureaucrat Mehboob Iqbal to join PDP | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Nov 28 (KNS): Describing former Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as the only man having vision and political capital to solve the issues of people of J&K, former Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Mehboob Iqbal said that Mufti's tenure as Home Minister of India itself speaks volumes about the value and vision of his personality. "Only PDP is the party having vision and sincerity for solving the issues of people that is why I urge people to vote for PDP", said the former bureaucrat while talking to news agency. "No other party is as sincere and honest as PDP towards people of the state. It is the only party which works in the larger interest of the people", he added. Referring to the neglect of District Doda, he said that District Doda has been ignored so far in every regime 'but it is time to provide sincere representation to the people of district according to their wishes and demands'. "Our area has great tourism potential but nothing has been done in this regard so far. There are various issues which need attention", he said. He asked panchs and sarpanchs of the Chenab area to vote for PDP candidates in the upcoming LC elections. Justifying his decision to prefer PDP against other political parties he said, "I don't want to comment on who contacted me but what is important is that I have decided join the PDP in future. "In the larger interest of the State we (People) must vote for PDP", he said. In response to speculation he would contest 2014 assembly elections on the PDP ticket, Mehboob briefly said that such decisions are taken by the party itself. "I'm a member of the party and it is for the party to decide on fielding candidates. Our objective is unity and secular brotherhood in the State. Unity of religions and progress in State and PDP has the same aims and objectives", he added. When asked if he opines retired bureaucrats should join politics, "It is not now where I wish to serve people but as a bureaucrat I've also served people. Every officer should serve the nation", he replied. When asked if NC and Congress enjoyed greater support in the area, he said: "Let the people decide fate of every party". Pertinently, Mehboob Iqbal had been one of the dynamic and active bureaucrats of his time and has served as Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and also as the Power Commissioner Kashmir. (KNS) |
