Jammu, Dec 2: Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture & Languages is all set to hold a 2-day conference on Dogri language here with focus on challenges and opportunities. The conference, happening close on the heels of a similar one held earlier on Kashmiri language, is scheduled for later this month. Giving details, Secretary Academy, Khalid Bashir Ahmad, said the conference will have four business sessions, besides the inaugural, during which eminent Dogri writers will present their papers on different aspects of the language and highlight challenges to and opportunities available for the language. Each paper reading will be followed by open discussion, he added. The inaugural session will have the keynote address that will set the tone for the conference. The theme paper of the conference will be presented in the first business session. Besides, the keynote address and the theme paper, as many as eight papers would be presented during the two days on topics such as Dogri Bhasha, Dogri Sahitya, Dogri Pathykram, Dogri Anuvaad, Dogri Rangmanch, Dogri Media, Dogri Films and Dogri in Cyber Era. Eminent writers and scholars of Dogri language from within and outside the State will attend the conference even as Prof. Lalit Magotra, D. K. Vaid, Prof. Veena Gupta, Dr. Om Goswami, Prof. Champa Sharma, Mr. Prakash Premi, Mohan Singh, Prof. Shashi Pathania, Dr. Nirmal Vinod, and Dr. Lalit Gupta will present papers. Prominent personalities of Dogri literature like Padma Sachdev, Prof. Nilambar Dev Sharma, Prof. Ved Ghai, Dr. Satpal Srivastav, Narsingh Dev Jamwal, Dr. Jitendra Udhampuri, Shiv Nirmohi, Prof. Archana Kesar, Desh Bandhu Dogra Nutan and Dr. Gian Singh will preside different sessions of the conference. Khalid said that the proceedings of the conference will be video recorded and a special number of Shiraza (Dogri) - the Academy's periodical - will also be devoted to the conference. A kavighoshti (poetic recitation session) in Dogri will be held at the conclusion of the conference, he said, hoping that the conference would go a long way in identifying the challenges to Dogri language and opportunities available for its promotion. |
