| Mysterious firing at Tramboo's house, police begin probe | | FCI tenders bring back fears of shoot-out | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 2: With high profile businessman Zafar Tramboo alleging firing at his Channi Himmat residence by his rivals, tenders of Food Corporation of India (FCI) have seemingly brought back fears of a shoot out in the city of temples. Tramboo has alleged that some unknown elements opened fire in the dead of night at his residence in Channi Himmat. He further said that fire was retaliated by his PSOs namely Aashiq Hussain and Riyaz Ahmed. The two PSOs have also corroborated the firing story narrated by Tramboo and his son, Haseeb. They said that no one was injured in the alleged firing incident. They claimed of having returned the fire to ensure safety of Tramboos. It needs to be mentioned that Zafar Tramboo is the FCI contractor whose son Haseeb Tramboo had waved a loaded gun at the contractors in the morning who had gathered in the FCI for the opening of tenders. DIG Jammu J.P.Singh alongwith a team of police officers rushed to the spot to personally monitor the situation. He met Tramboo and assured them of nailing the culprits at the earliest. A team of FSL took the bullets alongwith to find out the type of guns used by the alleged assailants. The team would also be looking at possibility of Tramboos enacting a drama to scare away other business houses who are keen to get FCI tenders. Transporter Zafar Tramboo has, according to reports told the police that the attack was seemingly handiwork of other transporters who were present in the morning at FCI to take revenge of the morning incident. It is relevant to inform here that Haseeb Tramboo had scared the transporters present in the FCI premises in the morning with a weapon taken from his father's PSO while giving the slip to the police along with his PSO. FSL sleuths have taken samples of the bullet holes pierced in the walls to take the cognizance of the matter. While police has launched an inquiry, identity of the assailants remained a mystery. An FIR No 118 stands registered in Channi police station against unknown assailants under Section 307. Haseeb Tramboo, who was accompanied by his father's PSO, had pulled out latter's weapon charging the other claimants to keep at bay. This led to the pandemonium on the spot as before police present on the occasion could have got into the action, the alleged accused waived the gun in the open and charged the other members present on the spot. The police however overpowered the culprit, only before both, Haseeb Tramboo and the PSO managed to flee from the spot. The weapon was recovered. It is reported that at their residence at Srinagar, Tramboos had witnessed a firing incident there also which led them for a request to the government for a provision of PSOs. Though police is verifying claim of Tramboo, sources said that preliminary inquiry has negated Tramboo's version. They added that police is trying to look at the possibility of Tramboos trying to scare away other aspirants. |
