Jammu, Dec 9: The workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena under the leadership of President Ashok Gupta took out a torch light candle protest over rise in accidental deaths in Jammu. They also paid condolence through candle light to Subash Chander, Rajrani and Sarvesh Gupta belonging to one family who died on the spot at Kalibarhi in Kathua in an accident. Addressing the gathering Gupta said the Chief Minister must shut down the department because "they are indulging in corruption and not performing their duty." "79 deaths in 45 accidents have taken place in the last one month in Jammu and most of the reasons behind these accidents is overloading. Traffic police is doing nothing to stop the violations," he said. He demanded that the responsibility of managing the traffic should be transferred from traffic police to the RTO of the state for the "better management of traffic and for the sake of saving precious lives." The workers who participated in the protest included Prem, Vikram Sharma, Guddu, Surjit singh, Lal Singh, Suresh, Naresh, Krishan Lal and Kimti. |
