| Mufti blows punch on NC on LC poll performance | | Says PDP has ended era of monopolistic politics | | early times report Jammu, Dec 9 : Three days after declaration of the results of Legislative Council polls, People's Democratic Party today broke its silence on the outcome in terms of performance of key political parties in the contest. And like a seasoned politician PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed took a dig at its rival NC, contending the performance of the PDP amply reflected that PDP is fast emerging a strong, credible political force acceptable to all the regions of the state. The punch line in former Chief Minister's comment made today was the political blow he slapped on NC by saying that the LC poll outcome in terms of votes bagged by the party clearly shows PDP had ended an era of monopolistic politics in the state. PDP Patron made a comment on LC polls while addressing a huge rally at Bari Brahamana near Vijaypur today. The veteran politician unlike NC leadership has not patted itself alone for having performed well in the just concluded polls. He has in fact complimented the coalition indirectly by contending that the state was poised for a genuine democratic contest for the first time in its history in which the people would have clear options to choose from on the basis of performance. However, the assertion between the lines on this comment is that NC should understand it well that it can no more indulge in monopolistic political practices nor any maneuverings which it has been doing for decades for the sake of grabbing power. The underlying message of Mufti Sayeed's statement is that PDP is fast emerging as an alternative political option both in Kashmir and Jammu and by making inroads in the political system in a rightful manner, the party has done a sort of service to the people as it has been able to what he says , 'introduce a much needed corrective into the democratic system of J&K…'. There is no bragging or boasting nor any element of self praise in what Mufti stated today. It is the hard truth and harsher for NC to eschew , particularly at this point of time when it is euphoric about victory and 'grand success' of coalition which it desires to continue in future. However, only time and political circumstances can determine that 'dispensation' . For now , as PDP Patron has rightly claimed and contended is a fact that by making credible and acceptable inroads in all the regions of the state, PDP had established itself as a much needed alternative to NC in the state which was badly needed to give jolt to arrogance NC had developed in the past by managing to be in the driver's seat . The emergence of PDP is also good and favorable for the people of state as it would help to end absolute corruption, the notion of absolute power and a feeling of indispensability with NC.
