Jammu, Dec 9 : Former Union Minister Dr Satya Narayan Jatia was given this year's Babu Parmanand Memorial Rashtriya award at 28th Rashtriya Dalit Sahityakar Sammelan which started in Delhi on Sunday. The award was presented to him by National President BDSA Dr S P Sumanaksher in presence of S Hanumantha and H R Phonsa, who led the delegation from J & K State. Dr Jatia appreciated the efforts of BDSA for its contribution towards the Dalit empowerment and exhorted the people to unite and raise their voice to attain their rightful place in the society. He also paid rich tributes to Babu Parmanand and remembered his contributions to the Dalit cause in particular and society in general. Dharam Guru Karamapa Trinale was chief guest at the event. Prominent among those who attended the function were former Governor Mata Prasad, S Hanumantha former Chaiman SC/ST Commission, Dr Ratanlal Sonagra from Pune, Babal Rao Golak from Maharashra, a delegation from Nepal and various other social activists. Over 5000 delegates from different parts of the country and abroad are attending this conference. The delegates include writers, artists, social workers and others engaged in the field of Dalit upliftment. |
