| KVK organises training prog on SHG | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 11: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu organised the training programme on Self Help Groups (SHGs) at village Mir of Pancheri block of Udhampur district. Around sixty farmers participated in the programme. Dr. Banarsi Lal, Asstt Prof. guided the farmers for the formation of Self Help Groups. He told that by saving some amount of money the farmers can make Self Help Groups by which they can start the small level entrepreneurship in the village without waiting for the others. Dr. Banarsi further narrated that groups are formed by involving 10-15 persons of homogenous strata. Each group should select its President, Secretary and Treasure on democratic basis. He informed the farmers that numbers of SHGs are more in South India as compared to North India. He further said that the Self Help Groups formation has lot of scope in Jammu and Kashmir specially in the downtrodden areas of Udhampur and Reasi districts where the economic condition of the people is pathetic. The farmers raised many quarries which Dr. Banarsi answered in a satisfactorily way. The programme was assisted by Satbir Singh and Mohd Iqbal. |
