| All State Motor Garage vehicles registered with RTO Sgr | | Discrimination with Jammu | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 11: The inclination of government towards giving economic benefit to only Valley based offices and business establishment has once again came to fore when it was observed that all the vehicles of Garages department go for registration in regional transport office Srinagar. Most of the vehicles of Garages department have the registration number of Srinagar district despite the fact that some of these vehicles are bought in Jammu show rooms. Buying vehicles in Jammu, garages department drivers are given order to take these vehicles to Srinagar and go for registration with RTO Srinagar. Sources in the Garages department told Early Times that to save tax, Garages department buys vehicles in Jammu but after that to give benefit to RTO Srinagar, these vehicles are straight away taken to valley and papers for registration are being submitted there. This may be a little thing for government but it shows their priorities towards Valley and taking the money away from Jammu based offices and provides benefit to Valley offices. Every month, state motor garage buy score of vehicles from different motor outlets in the state but the department has been directed to go for registration in Srinagar only. Even the Jammu based Ministers and bureaucrats who have been given garages vehicles carry the registration number "JK01" which clearly shows that these vehicles are registered with RTO Srinagar and not with Jammu. The Chief Minister Omar Abdullah led government has set its priorities to provide benefit to people of Jammu after snatching it from people from other areas, which is not new to people of Jammu region. The recent MLC election was one such example in which Omar mostly campaigned in valley. Not only this he hardly stays in Jammu and prefer to reach Srinagar after attending secretariat in Jammu during winters when Darbar is in winter capital. Another thing with these garage vehicles is that they don't go for insurance which is important under traffic rules of Jammu and Kashmir. If any private vehicle remains without insurance for a single day and is caught by traffic officials, the owner of the vehicle has to pay the penalty. But when it comes to Garage vehicles, traffic authorities don't punish them and allow them to move freely. "Yes, Garage vehicles don't go for insurance. We prefer to give penalty in case of any accident but don't insure vehicles prior,' a state motor garages official told Early Times. But what about the loss to insurance companies who have been given the authority insure each and every vehicle in the state.
