| No existing Minister to be dropped | | State Cabinet reshuffle | | early times report Jammu, Dec 11: The much awaited Cabinet reshuffle is likely to take place within the next few days as the Congress-NC high command have cleared the decks for the same as per authoritative sources in New Delhi. Interestingly, senior NC leader and uncle of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Dr. Mustafa Kamaal is believed to be looking forward to his induction into the Cabinet as the lone NC new face during the reshuffle. It is also reliably learnt through the same sources that portfolios of many existing Ministers are being shuffled especially in cases where the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has been expressing dissatisfaction over the performance of his cabinet colleagues. "It is unlikely that any existing minister would be dropped from the cabinet, but in cases where the CM is not satisfied with the performance, the concerned minister would be moved to less significant portfolio", the sources told Early Times. Asked why the non-performing Ministers cannot be dropped from the cabinet, these sources said that would disturb the delicate power equation within the Congress that stands divided between the supporters of Professor Saif-ud-Din Soz and Ghulam Nabi Azad. There are a few Congress ministers in the state cabinet this time who are known for their 'open defiance' of the CM's writ during the cabinet meetings. The Congress party is also scheduled to fill two ministerial slots at the cabinet level during the forthcoming reshuffle. The Congress camp is abuzz these days with probables engaged in hectic lobbying. Both Azad and Soz are also believed to be pushing their favourites during the cabinet reshuffle. The NC working committee has already authorized party patron Dr. Farooq Abdullah to approach the Congress high command for forging a possible alliance for 2014 elections. Dr. Farooq has as per the sources distanced himself from the cabinet reshuffle process leaving the matter open for Omar Abdullah to manage on his own. It is also likely that at least one among the recently elected MLCs, Shahnaz Ganai might get a junior ministerial position in the reshuffle.
