| Protection of Gole Mahal Hazari Bagh: HC orders for status quo | | | Jammu, Dec 24: A Division Bench of State High Court Monday issued notices to Chief Secretary, Director Archaeology, Secretary Union Minister of Archaeology Survey of India, Director Archaeology Survey of India. Sr. AAG accepts on behalf of State whereas KK Pangotra ASGI also accepts notice on behalf of Union of India in a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by one Balbir Singh seeking protection of Gole Mahal Hazari Bagh Talab Tillo Jammu. The Building is stated to have been built by a Dogra King about 150 years back. The DB comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Hasnain Massodi ordered that status-quo with regard to construction on the land near or underneath the Mahal, shall be maintained. "The respondents shall take effective steps to ensure that any property dealer, contractor or builder do not change the nature of the building or the land any further. The status report be filed before the next date of hearing," they ordered. (-- JNF) |
