PK punctures separatists' balloon
12/24/2012 11:22:13 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 24: At a time when the APHC (M) leadership is meeting with Pakistani leaders and discussing with them ways and means of promoting their separatist and communal agenda, Panun Kashmir (PK), an organization of internally-displaced Kashmiri Hin-dus, has heightened its demand seeking separate homeland in the Valley for around .7 million Kashmiri Hindus. The APHC (M) leaders masquerade as champions of Kashmir and claim that their organization is the true representative of the people of the state (read Kashmir). They also say that no solution to the Kashmir issue is possible without the involvement of their outfit and Pakistan. The Jammu leadership doesn't attach any importance to what the APHC (M) leaders and similar other separatists say day-in-and-day-out for reasons best known to it. Its attitude always disturbs and alarms the people of Jammu province. They want their leadership to play the required role to defeat the Kashmiri separatists, but with no result. That's the reason they from time to time assert their psyche and neutralize the influence of Kashmiri separatists. The latest example was what they did in 2008. The case in point is the historic and epoch-making Amarnath land movement in Jammu.
It is the leadership of the displaced community of Kashmiri Hindus which has at regular intervals since early 1990 exposed the nature of the ongoing secessionist movement in Kashmir. Yesterday again, the PK leadership explained the nature of Kashmiri leadership and the movement which it unleashed in the late 1980. Reflecting on the nature of the separatist movement, the PK leadership said that "the return and rehabilitation of the religiously cleansed Kashmiri Hindus is not possible…till the cause of their genocide is not looked into" and added that the "Kashmiri Hindus were not the victims of natural calamities like earthquake and floods but of communalism and separatism unleashed by the fascist forces to change the demographic character of the Valley". It also said, and very rightly, that "since the Kashmiri Hindus were the upholders of the Indian nation and the (Indian) Constitution in Kashmir, they were targeted selectively…" and hounded out of their original habitat.
The PK leadership did express the desire to return to their original homeland, but made it abundantly clear that the community it represents would return to the Valley only if certain pre-conditions are met by the powers-that-be in the country. One, 'the return and rehabilitation of the persecuted Kashmiri Hindus is possible only when the India Constitution is made applicable in letter and spirit…and the perpetrators of the genocide on the Kashmiri Hindu community are made accountable for the crimes of holocaust and genocide on the Hindus of Kashmir by the fascist and communal forces in Kashmir". Two, the authorities must allow them to "reclaim the ancestral homeland in Kashmir as envisaged in the Margdarshan Resolution adopted unanimously (in Jammu) on December 28, 1991 by the religiously cleansed community".
In other words, the PK leadership demanded not just the bifurcation of the Kashmir Valley and establishment of homeland for the displaced Kashmiri Hindus, but also made it loud and clear that they will live only under such dispensation that allows free flow of Indian Constitution, barring the separatist and Article 370. Its basic argument was that "Kashmir is in the grip of the forces which practice all forms of regression to choke all forms of freedom available in progressive societies". It did make a very valid point. Indeed, the situation in Kashmir is not conducive for the return and rehabilitation of the displaced community. But more than that, the PK leadership punctured the entire separatist movement by telling the powers-that-be that ongoing movement in the Valley is , regressive and violent and that it is the displaced community which is the chief factor in the political situation in the valley. And remember, it is the PK leadership that has exposed the separatist Kashmiri leadership at international level and convinced to a great extent the international community that it is the minority community of Kashmiri Hindus which was subjected to all kinds of brutalities by the fanatics.
It would be only appropriate to say that the answer of the PK leadership to the separatists' demand/demands is separate homeland in the Valley for Kashmiri Hindus, invested with Union Territory status. It is the most effective and most appropriate answer to those who are working for the country's disintegration
