Srinagar, Dec 24: Two member committee framed to look into the hut allocation scam under the central sponsored scheme Inidra Awaz Yojna (IAY) that has surfaced in Dachnipora block of Rural Develo-pment Department in An-antnag days before, is set to submit its report on Thursday.
The scam surfaced after Assistant Commissioner Development Anantnag took cognizance of complaints and ordered an enquiry into the alleged fraud.
People, figured in the list of the beneficiaries of the IAY huts, said in a written application that one Mohammad Ahsan Dar son of Abdul Aziz of Pethnu, Srigufwara, approached some known people of the neighbouring villages and sought their bank accounts telling them that he wanted to credit some cheques into their accounts.
"After crediting the cheques worth Rs 30,000 each in the accounts, Dar approached the account holders again for withdrawal of the money. However, some of them got suspicious and wanted reasons for not crediting the cheques into his own account," sources said.

They said he managed to get at least 20 IAY huts sanctioned in favour of those who had never applied for the same in connivance with a former BDO and some other officials. "At least 20 huts have been fraudulently allocated and the payment for the same has also been released in just one installment," sources said. They said that the authorities have formed a two member team to probe the fraud.

Raja Begum wife of late Mohd Sultan Najar, who is in the list of beneficiaries of IAY has never received any payment. "My son told me that our name has been put twice in the list of IAY for which we have never applied or received any payment", said Raja Begum
Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Anantnag, Tilak Raj when contacted said that investigation of the fraud has been initiated and the committee will submit its report within two days.
