| Protests against downgrading of ration scale | | |  Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Dec 24: Opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) under the leadership of District Youth President Mohammad Umar Malik today held protests and dharna outside Deputy Commissioner Office here over government decision regarding changing of ration scale from 20 Kg Atta to 10 Kg/Ration card holder. The protesters demanded an immediate enhancement in ration quota @ 25 Kg Atta and 25 Kg rice in favour of each ration card holder. They also showed concern over unavailability of ration in government stores, beside non delivery of sugar to the ration card holders. The agitating party workers who were joined by senior party leaders as well also expressed resentment over frequent power cuts in Kishtwar and slammed the district administration for their alleged failure in checking the black marketing of LPG and Kerosene oil. They claimed that instead of distributing Kerosene oil to the general public same is being sold by the black marketers to truck and matador owners. They urged up on the concern authorities to take appropriate measures to check the distribution of LPG, Kerosene Oil and ration among the general public and also for the respite from frequent power cuts. |
