| Congress High command to adopt twin strategy for smoothening ties in ruling coalition in J&K | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 24: The Congress high command is said to be planning to initiate twin measures for improving the political climate in Jammu and Kashmir vis-a-vis the equation between the state unit of the Congress and the National Conference. Party sources said that first of all the party High Command, which is worried over the plight of its state unit, plans to force a truce between the loyalists and the dissidents. The Gujarat poll results seem to have made the Congress high command wiser because reports from Ahmedabad had revealed that had not the state unit of the Congress in Gujarat been plagued by groupism the party would have won more than 75 seats against 63 it has won in the just ended Assembly poll. The Congress high command does not want to allow its unit in Jammu and Kashmir to be plagued by factional feuds when the net Assembly election was due in 2014.Since the Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad has regained his stature, that he had lost for a few months,in the eyes of the party high command he would be asked to play a supplementary role for strengthening the Congress in Jammu and Kashmir. Reports said that Soz was unlikely to be sidelined and he may be told to mend fences with Azad so that t he two work together for fortifying the Congress base in the state. Secondly, the party high command is said to be utilising the services of Mohan Prakash, who is incharge of the party affairs in Jammu and Kashmir, and Azad to discuss the issue of lack of trust between the leaders of the state unit of the Congress and the National Conference. |
