| Convenor FWO white knight corps visits Military Hospital on Christmas eve | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 24 : On the occasion of Christmas, Convenor of Family Welfare Organisation (FWO), White Knight Corps Rashmi Hooda paid a visit to 166 Military Hospital, Satwari Cantonment to wish a " Merry Christmas" to the children today. On her arrival, she was received by Sushma Harjai, Convenor of FWO, 166MH and the Commandant of the hospital, Brig MM Harjai. Hooda visited all the family wards and interacted with the patients. She had full praises for the comprehensive health care provided by this prestigious hospital whose motto is "Care with Compassion". She appreciated the cleanliness of the hospital and the patient care approach by the hospital staff and also appreciated the Christmas decorations of the Pediatric ward and as a good will gesture distributed sweets and gifts to the children. During her visit to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Hooda inaugurated a prayer room in the NICU for the distressed parents of the sick newborns. She appreciated highly the existing facilities and quality care of a low birth weight preterm baby with developmental anomaly of Oesohagus ( food pipe not formed) operated on the very first day of life by the Commandant of the hospital himself, Brig MM Harjai, an eminent pediatric surgeon and postoperatively managed with neonatal and ventilation. The 166 MH, being the largest hospital in the plains of J & K, has the highest number of deliveries (till date 2286) in Armed Forces Medical Hospitals in India. There are also successful special cases of operations like smallest baby with extremely low birth weight (904 gms) managed and survived, smallest baby with prematurity (27 wks) managed in neonatal intensive care and discharged and youngest baby operated at 18 hrs of life (Food pipe was not formed, emergency operation and reconstruction of food pipe was done ) are the few to be mentioned. Rashmi Hooda also emphasized to the mothers of the sick babies of the need of exclusive breast feeding, uninterrupted vaccination and scheduled follow up. She concluded the visit by interacting with the hospital staff and appreciated their professionalism and exhorted them to constantly strive to achieve ever higher standards in all spheres of hospital activity in the service of the quality patients care. |
