early times report KATHUA, Jan 2: Defending champion, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) Patiala today sailed into the quarterfinals of the ongoing 3rd Police Martyrs' Memorial North Zone Twenty20 Cricket Championship at Sports Stadium, here. Playing straightway into the pre-quarterfinals on getting bye in the initial rounds, PSPCL defeated MP Club Haryana by six wickets. Batting first, after winning the toss, MP Club set a target of 126 runs for the loss of seven wickets, which, in reply, PSPCL chased in 15.5 overs losing four wickets. Amar played fine innings of 61-ball 64 runs from MP Club while Avtar and Raman contributed 18 and 17 runs respectively. From PSPCL Lakhvir, Gurtej, Sandeep Kohli and Rocky Ratra shared one wicket each. Later, PSPCL attained the goal making 128 runs for the loss of four wickets that too sparing 4.1 overs of their innings. Kali remained top scorer with 25-ball 45 runs, followed by Suraj and Rocky, who contributed 22 runs each. From MP Club, Ankit and Sunil shared two wickets between them. For his match winning innings, Kali was declared man of the match. He was presented the cash prize of Rs 1500 and trophy by Deputy Superintendent of Police, DAR, Rohit Baskotra. Now, in the quarterfinal, scheduled for tomorrow, PSPCL shall take on J&K Armed Police XI. |
