| After his trip abroad CM arrives in winter to a 'hectic schedule' | | Cabinet meeting today | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 2: After enjoying a vacation of over 10 days Chief Minister Omar Abdullah arrived in the winter capital today to a hectic schedule which he attended both at Secretariat as well at his residence. While the traffic cops put almost all roads leading to both the places on 'high alert', as always with their panic packed working in managing the traffic and wrongly parked vehicles, in the Civil Secretariat it was 'business as usual', as CM's arrival made no difference on any account. However, for the high level officers of the rank of Commissioners, it was a busy day as CM took meetings to take stock of things he deemed significant soon after his arrival. The first vital aspect of functioning of his government after the holiday trip remains the cabinet meeting which is scheduled tomorrow. After remaining relaxed and less confused for the period CM remained away, the traffic cops including the senior officers suddenly turned hyper active today particularly on routes from where CM's movement was circulated to them soon after his arrival in the morning. Omar drove straight to residence along with his close coterie of politicians. After about an hour he went to Secretariat and his swift movement to both the places pushed panic buttons on the roads with traffic police. While all officers were seen on toes trying to steer clear the roads with even moving vehicles, those having parked vehicles on wrong side or at no parking areas had apparently to face harshness of cops. However, more interesting aspect of their working today was few of them riding on bikes with sirens on full on volume trying to disturb and distract even the normal movement. No matter it made people alert but it also caused confusion because more than vehicle owners it were pedestrians who pushed themselves in panic on the posh and busy Residency road area. However, in the Secretariat his arrival after so many days did not make any difference neither at the level of administration nor at the level of his cabinet colleagues. While few Ministers attended the office in routine, few of the stayed away despite knowing about CM's scheduled arrival programme. A couple of Ministers did call on the Chief Minister but that was only informal and more of a courtesy gesture. The cabinet meeting is scheduled tomorrow in which promotions and transfers at the administration level are on agenda. He also met few deputations apart from holding meeting with senior bureaucrats today. |
