Working less than 250 days, Govt lists out over 200 achievements

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 2: The State Government which has worked for less than 300 days has achieved the rare distinction of performing 177 achievements.
The achievements includes the projects in which the State government doesn't have direct hand but deems it fit to take credit for it.
In a sequence of listing out achievements, a process started by former Director Information, who was also involved in violation of eco-rules by building home in Dachigam area, but was strangely rewarded with a prime posting in the Srinagar Development Authority, the Information Department had listed the series of the steps taken by the government which it terms as achievements.
One of the achievements listed out by the department has been the construction of the super speciality hospital in the Jammu.
The project was sanctioned and funded by the Vajpayee headed NDA Government. The State Government's job was to finish it in time and provide the required faculty. The Government has repeatedly faulted on this account.
Till now, it has not been able to provide the full strength to the hospital and its only achievement has been to repeatedly extend the dead lines for its functioning thus undermining the path breaking decision of the NDA Government for improving health facilities in the Jammu.
Such is the sincerity of the Government in this regard that it the State Government had once decided to privatise the hospital and a note was also being reportedly made but it was shelved out at the last minute that a hospital being constructed under funds from Central Government can't be privatized.
The Government lists the placements of 96 specialists, 810 staff nurses and 921 para medicals in various rural health institutions.
But the fact remains that state government is falling short of about 200 doctors but no till now no sincere effort has been made to fill this gap and the only those with not right political connections reluctantly doing jobs in the rural areas.
The list says that 1396 ITIs brought under upgradation scheme. The number of ITIs as per the government list is more than the primary schools of the State.
It's about 70 ITIs per district which is quite impossible.
The number reflects the over zealousness of CM's coterie to please him rather massage his ego for personal petty gains.
