| Qazi Afzal ridicules Govt claims | | "NC government anti-people, non-performing" | | Srinagar, Jan 2 : Senior Peoples Democratic Party leader and former minister Qazi Afzal Wednesday ridiculed the claims of National Conference led government of redressing grievances of people of Jammu and Kashmir. In a statement Qazi said, "False claims of NC led government has been ridiculed by the people itself as is evident yesterdays protests in the Chief Minister's constituency (Ganderbal) where people have been deprived of basic amenities. The worse power situation in the state is growing day by day and Ganderbal being the producer of the power supply has been deprived of electric supply." He criticized the NC government for its "failure" to come up to the expectations of the people of the state. Terming NC government as an "anti-people", the PDP leader said that the "non-performing" government has perpetuated the hardships of the common masses who are denied even the basic necessities like Bijli, Sadak and Paani. "Power crisis in the state had again reached the level where from the previous coalition had lifted it as a result of reform following years of deterioration under various NC regimes. The inability of the government to streamline gas supply had thrown people back into dark ages and in subzero temperatures people had to remain in queue for days to gather to get a cylinder of LPG," he said. Qazi said that Central Kashmir was the worst sufferer of NC "misrule and emotional exploitation in the past but it continued to play games with the people of it and was using all unfair means to prevent a political contest to retain its false monopoly." "Thousands of youth had been framed in false cases and in spite of Chief Minister's repeated announcements the cases had not been withdrawn. Some of these youth are being forced to carry out the dirty tricks of NC to ensure that the youth in general continue to feel alienated and a viable opposition does not emerge and the party continues to pose as the only representative even as it survives primarily on the election boycott," he alleged. The former minister said that the PDP in its capacity as the main voice of people would continue to focus on problems of the citizens. He said the PDP would never compromise on issues concerning the welfare of people of the state. |
