PDP demands strict laws against sexual harassment
1/2/2013 11:55:56 PM
Jammu, Jan 2: Oppo-sition People’s Democratic Party today demanded strict laws to safeguard women in Jammu and Kashmir against sexual harassment. "We dem-and police patrolling, tougher laws, fast tracking of rape and molestation cases and harsh punishment for the rapists to set an example so that no body can ever dare to think about committing to do such kind of crime," PDP District President Jammu Vikram Singh said.
"If we can just start respecting the women in our homes that will be enough to start a trend, a revolution to respect women and not see them as a luring object," he added.
Vociing his concern over the rising number of rape cases in the recent days in the state, he said, "We welcome justice for the rape victim in Delhi but at the same time we demand that justice for all such victims in Kashmir especially those who were raped in Kunan Poshpora in early 1990's."
