| PIL regarding unauthorized construction raised by Land Mafia | | DB direct JMC to file status report | | early times report
Jammu, Jan 2 (JNF): A Public Interest Litigation filed by one Naresh Kumar Gupta, he alleged that some illegal and unauthorized construction is being raised by the Land Mafia in the residential area at Mohalla Paharian near Geeta Bhawan Jammu. In the PIL further allegations that the construction is the result of conspiracy with the watch and ward staff, Chief Enforcement Officer, Senior Town Planner and Other Officers of the Jammu Municipal Corpo-ration.
A Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Hasnain Massodi directed Jammu Municipal Corporation that they shall file status report by examining the documents annexed which contains various orders furnished to the appellant under the Right to Information Act including the site plan and further directed that if any such construction is in progress, the same shall remain stayed till further orders.
Division Bench asked Advocate Virender Bhat to assist the Court in this matter and further observed that as to whether such activities by Land Mafia are actually in progress, issued notice to JMC through its Commissioner and directed to file status report.
