Police seizes machines used for illegal mining

Kathua, Jan 6: Police seized one Pokland, a JCB and a tipper from Ravi river in Lakhanpur today as the machines were allegedly being used for illegal mining.
SHO Lakhanpur, Ravin-der Singh who led the police party seized the machines while the drivers managed to flee.
A few months back in order to protect the river authorities had imposed Section 144 in one km upstream of the bridge and one km downstream of the bridge.
"One Pokland, one JCB and a tipper (without number plates) from Punjab were engaged in illegal mining in restricted area where it is already facing the worse consequences of extreme deep and wide numbers of holes caused by the miners and have posed a major threat to the strength of bridges. The police seized the said machines under Section 188," a police spokesperson said.
