| Kishtwar acid victim supports speedy trial for Kashmir acid victim | | 'Police sabotaged justice to me' | | Asif Iqbal Naik KISHTWAR, Jan 6: Extending her deep empathy, the 34 year old Kishtwar acid attack victim has reached out to the Kashmir acid attack victim. Expressing her pain and anguish over denial of justice to her, she said, "Even though justice is eluding me since last 7 years, but I can understand the trauma which the Kashmir acid victim was going through and I supported the speedy trail of the case so that the victim could get justice". Seven years since the incident that defaced her, the accused are still roaming free and the victim has held the police responsible for denial of justice to her. It was on November 16, 2006, when 34 year old Gulnaz Begum wife of Irshad Ahmed Waza of Shaheedi Mohallah Kishtwar was targeted by three local youths including a local Imam who intercepted her and threw acid on her face, for running a beauty parlour in the area despite their warnings. Six years on, Gulnaz the mother of three is still waiting for justice, which continues to elude her as police failed to act under law to deliver justice to her. Gulnaz blamed the false police investigation for acquital of all the accused from court. She said that Kishtwar police put her in dock over the progress of the case and said that she came to know about the acquital of the accused only after one year. She alleged that police succumbed to the influence of political influence and money power of the accused. Expressed deep pain and anguish after hearing about similar incident targeting 30 year old women presently undergoing treatment in Delhi, she demanded that government should enact strong law against such crime against women.
