| National Mazdoor Conference demands enhancement in IT limit | | | early times report Jammu, Jan 6: President of the National Mazdoor Conference Subash Shastri today urged upon the Union Finance Minister to enhance the Income Tax exemption limit from Rs. 1.80 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh for salaried class and urged him to make announcement in this regard when the union budget for 2013-14 is presenting in the coming budget session of parliament. Addressing a well attended meeting of NMC activists here, Shastri said that with price rise and inflation with every salaried class is facing a lot of economic hardships, adding that raising Income Tax limit to Rs, 5 Lacs would be genuine measures to provide some relief to them. Pleading the cause of both Central and State Govt. employees and pensioners, Shastri also demanded for early sanction of 20% Interim relief and merging of 50% DA in to their basic pay and pension to offset the economic hardships of salaried class in view of steep hike in the prices of all essential commodities. He said that with DA already touching the mark of 72% of the basic pay and pension, interim relief and merger of 50% DA had become due when DA crossed 50%.He urged that the Central Govt. should provide special package to all States for meeting the expenditure on account of interim relief, so that there are no financial constraints for them to provide interim relief to the State Govt. employees and pensioners. Referring to the demands of daily rated workers, Shastri said that their wage should be raised 10,000 per month in view of the cost of living index having gone up due to rising prices. Shastri also pleaded for immediate constitution of the 7th pay commission with provision for simultaneous implementation of its recommendation in favor of the central and state Governments staff of the country. Release of wages of motivators working in IWDP besides their regularization, enhancement in the medical allowance from Rs.300/- per month to Rs.1000/- per month, issuance of regularization orders of 180 daily wagers working in the RDD, and removal of all anomalies of SRO93 particularly clerical staff were other demands highlighted in the meeting. |
