| Kumar concerned over rising corruption in J&K | | | early times report Jammu, Jan 6: All J&K Movement for Peace and Justice member Kuldeep Kumar Rao has expressed concern over the steps taken by the authorities in the eradication of menace of corruption in J&K "which has achieved the status of being number one states in the country on corruption as per survey conducted by Transparency International". In a statement Rao said that while on one hand, Chief Minister is crying hoarse of taking affective steps to contain corruption in the state "on the other NC led coalition government has made the State Accountability Com-mission a toothless tiger by withdrawing powers to the Commission through several amendments." "Under these circumstances, it is amply clear that several ministers, bureaucrats and politicians who are involved in corruption, sex scandals and other vigilance cases of land grabbing may have a long rope without any fear of law and the state government is not expected to take any steps to nail corruption," he said. "The statement of Omar Abdullah that J&K state has its own SAC and doesn't need Lok Ayukta, makes the affairs more confusing to the worries of common man," he added. |
