| Kashmiri babus camping in Jammu to seek blessings of new mantris | | | Majid Ahmad srinagar, Jan 17: With several new Ministers taking over in the recent Cabinet reshuffle and expansion, dozens of Government officers posted in Kashmir have been camping in Jammu for the last one week to seek blessings of their new bosses. Sources told Early Times that several Kashmiri babus have shifted their base to Jammu where they are trying to gauge the mood of new mantris. While a Government servant is bound to follow certain code of conduct for discharge of his duties yet the instances are not lacking where one finally comes to a conclusion that these rules are meant for those having no proximity with the power corridors of State administration. In such one example a high profile engineer in Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) Deputy General Manager of Unit 1st Srinagar Mohammad Abass Lone who left the headquarters at Srinagar on January 9 for Jammu by issuing even an administrative order himself under no: PF/13/2565-67 without any permission from immediate officer of the rank of provincial level General Manager of the Corporation. "Moreover, while stationed in Jammu unauthorised he has also called his driver along with the official vehicle (Bolero) on January 16 for his personal amusement at Jammu at the cost of State exchequer," sources claimed. They disclosed that while General Manager JKPCC vide his letter no: 3000-15, dated: 17.01.13 has reprimanded the officer for such misconduct yet it is feared that the said General Manager may have to listen music from higher ups since Lone is presently at Jammu for getting in contact with the new Minister for obtaining "undue favours" from him in future by adopting different means for developing relations with them. Sources told ET that dozens of other senior engineers and bureaucrats who should have been performing their duties in Valley are camping in Jammu these days. "The engineers and bureaucrats are purchasing costly gifts before going to the homes of the new mantris to congratulate them. Some of them are trying to revive old contacts with the mantris through their friends and relatives. The friends and relatives of new mantris are also making fortune these days," they added. "How far the Government is going to tackle such disgruntled officers is a million dollar question," a senior officer questioned. |
