JAMMU, Jan 20: A youth was washed away in flash flood that took place in Jhajjar Nallah at Jhajjar Kotli today.
The deceased who has been identified as Surinder Kumar of Chamb Jourian, Akhnoor was a driver of JCB machine and at the time of incident he was sleeping on the machine, which he had parked along the nallah. As the Jhajjar Nallah swollen due to incessant rainfall, the victim who had fallen asleep on the machine could not get out of the strong flow of water and got washed away in flash flood. His body was later traced out, the sources said. The JCB machine which was being driven by the deceased was hired by AFCONS company for construction of a bridge on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. Police have registered a case in this connection and investigation is on. |
