| JKNPP holds protest against Lal Singh | | Alleges MP's interference in affairs of NYK | | EARLY TIMES REPORT UDHAMPUR, Jan 20 : In protest against the alleged interference in the affairs of Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) by Member of Parliament (MP) Choudhary Lal Singh, the activists of Jammu & Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today held a massive protest demonstration at Udhampur. The protesters burnt an effigy of Congress MP Lal Singh and alleged that Ch. Lal Singh who was invited as Chief Guest in the function of Nehru Yuva Kendra at Udhampur was to distribute sports equipments and awards as per list prepared by some 60 odd Nehru Yuva Kendras. They claimed that rather than going by the lists prepared by the said Yuva Kendras, Ch. Lal Singh nominated his own favourites and distributed the sports equipments and awards to them as per his own whims and fancies. JKNPP activists said that the list prepared by the Coordinators of Yuva Kendra was not honoured by the MP despite the repeated insistence. The protestors said that by dishonouring of clubs and their reports, Ch. Lal Singh manipulated and misappropriated the public fund which was resisted by all the clubs who sought an enquiry into the whole game. Those who joined the protest demonstration included Dhani Ram Attri, Pawan Dev Singh, Sunil Proach, Jagdev Singh, Ram Pal Sharma, Kamlu Ram. Meanwhile, State President JKNPP and MLA Udhampur Balwant Singh Mankotia has urged upon the Union Minister for Youth Services and Sports to take cognizance of the blatant violations of guidelines and resultant misappropriation of Nehru Yuva Kendra funds by Ch. Lal Singh and a regular enquiry into the entire episode. |
