| NMC President demands release of DA instalment | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 20 : National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) President Mr Shastri Sunday appealed the Prime Minister to announce pending instalment of nine percent DA due from January 1 in favour of Central and State Government employees and pensioners at the next union cabinet meeting. In a statement he said that salaried class was facing a lot of hardships due to high inflation and price rise and the early release of DA would be genuine measure to provide some relief to them. Addressing a meeting of NMC activists here today, Shastri pointed out that since there is already provision in the current year Union budget, there should be no problem for the Central Government in releasing the instalment to its employees and pensioners. "The delay in the release of DA would not only put burden on the Central Government exchequer to liquidate the arrears but also increase the difficulties to employees and pensioners," he said. Stressing for formulating a National Pay Policy throughout the Country, Shastri demanded for setting up of 7th pay commission, which should cover both Central and State Government employees and pensioners. |
