early times report JAMMU, Jan 20: With less than one-month time left for the prestigious All India Inter-University Kortball Championship, the hosts, University of Jammu (JU) is yet to finalise the team, what to talk of preparations on ground. Busy with allied arrangements of boarding, lodging and purchase of equipments, the hosts forget to at least select the probable for preparations of the team. As per the laid down norms, at least 21-day camp is required before participation in a national level competition. However, it has been reliably learnt that the Vice Chancellor, Prof MPS Ishar has convened a high level meeting of those directly or indirectly involved in the hosting of the mega event on January 23. Interestingly, the JU has been confirmed as host for the event by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) well in advance to start the preparations. "The preparations on ground get fillip only after the meeting, expected to take place on January 23. A number of decisions will be taken by the Vice Chancellor, including those related to finances," informed sources told SAN. Important to mention here that JU had opted for three different disciplines, but the AIU allotted the Korfball-a mix game of boys and girls. Around 30 teams, with around 600 participants, from all over the country are expected to take part in this competition which is scheduled to be held from February 20 to February 25 on the JU campus. |
