| PYC celebrates Rahul Gandhi's ascendancy as Vice President | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 20 : Pradesh Youth Congress celebrated All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi's elevation as vice president of AICC at the Jaipur convention. A grand celebration programme was organised at Press Club Jammu to celebrate the occasion under the leadership of PYC Vice President Pranav Shagotra, General Secretaries PYC Dr. Abdul Rashid Choudhary and Abid Bhat and PYC Anantnag Lok Shaba President Nasir Mir. A large number of activists from various parts of Jammu moved towards Press Club and celebrated the occasion. Many activists were seen dancing on drum beats while others released fire crackers to mark the occasion. The sweets were also distributed among the party activists and general public on the occasion. Jubilant workers kept dancing on the roads near Press Club office for some time and also greeted the people. As slogans rent the air and fireworks lit up the sky Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma came out from Press Club premises, where he was attending a seminar, and joined the enthusiastic youth Congress activists. The minister congratulated the youth activists and hailed the AICC's decision. PYC leaders said that Rahul is paying keen interest in the youth of our country and his earnest commitment to the advancement of youth, rural areas and farmers are all well-known. "During his tenure as the vice-president, we are quite sure that he will take the Congress party to newer heights," the PYC leaders said. Speaking on the occasion, Pranav Shagotra said that Gandhi's elevation would further strengthen the party and there is great enthusiasm among the youth of the country on this development. We warmly welcome the decision of the AICC and CWC. Welcoming the elevation of Rahul Gandhi as the Congress vice president, Dr. Abdul Rashid Choudhary said that this is the "victory of youth" and his ascendency will infuse a new wave in the party's youth cadre. |
