early times report Rajouri, Jan 20: On the first phase of polio vaccination border district Rajouri has recorded 82.37% turnout of people in pulse polio booths compared to last years turnout of 98% owing to bad weather conditions and snow bound areas. According to official reports Rajouri has 95026 children out which 78273 children have been vaccinated with turnout of 82.37% on all 615 polio booths set by district administration in the district Rajouri as compared to previous year's health department figures showed very high rate as 98% turnout. According to departmental, polio teams has reached out to the target populations of slums 149 residents and vaccinated 203 children, nomads 1026 and vaccinated 940 children, 266 of brick kilns in an entire area if border district. District administration has also made clear that that years polio camping are having special focus on those people living under slums, bricks kilns and nomadic population of this region. Dharal, Kandi and Manjakote are the most affected snowbound areas as mostly roads connectivity remained suspended till now, however the teams of polio tracked miles to reached out to the polio booths, a senior officer said, however, "our teams will reached to every family for polio drops, so that not a single children remained without vaccination": he added "We had increase few more days in this campaign of first phase, he said as per schedule our first phase will be concluded on 24 of January, but now it will be concluded on 27and second phase of pulse polio campaign starts from February 24" he added. We have over two thousand vaccinators, 129 supervisors, 8 monitors' 40 people for high risk area like brick kilns, slums and other nomadic target populations, including teams of volunteers and rotary club are also on job. |
