EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 20 : The five day 5th Science Camp Under Innovation in Science Pursuits for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) Program of Department of Science and Technology ( DST) (Govt. Of India) concluded at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu here today. The five day Camp was organized by Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India in collaboration with PG Department Of Geology University Of Jammu for the School children's of 11th of Science stream who secured more then 80% marks in their Board examination. More than 265 Students from 24 Schools of Jammu Province participated in this Camp. Experts from all over the country shared their knowledge with the students participating in the Camp which include Prof. A.S Brar, Vice Chancellor Guru Nanak Dev University, Prof Shalabh, IIT, Kanpur, Prof Avinash Khare, DU, Prof V Sri Nivas, TIFR, Mumbai and many others. Speaking on the occasion , Prof N Satyamurthy, Director, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Mohali Chief Guest on the occasion while highlighting the importance of INSPIRE programme also underlined the need for the Country to produce Noble Prize Winner under Indian Nationality which unfortunately Indian origin Scientists have been getting under diffferent Nationalisties. Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar in his presidential address said that Prof N Satyamurthy has raised the bar of the Inspire Programme by proposing the young audience to aspire for Nobel Prize. An inter-School Quiz Competition was also organised in which 12 Schools took part and out of which four teams reached to the final. KC Public School bagged the Winner Up Trophy while as Presentation Convent won the Runner up Trophy. The Quiz Competition was conducted by Mrs. Nishima and Mr. Jawaz Iqubal. All the participants were given certificates. The proceeding of the function was conducted by Rajni Magotra Among others Prof S.K Pandey, Prof Yashpal Sharma, Prof S.K Pandita, Prof KK Kapoor, Principals of different Schools, teachers, Scholars and Studentswere also present on the occasion. |
