| Lakhanpur shopkeepers aghast over shifting of Toll Plaza | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Kathua, Jan 20 : Small shopkeepers and rehdiwallas here have resented the government's decision to move toll plaza to a "disadvantageous" location.
Early in the morning hundreds of shopkeepers and other businessmen gathered here to register their protest against the decision. They urged Dr Mustaq not to move the toll plaza from the present location who assured them that their demands would be raised with higher authorities at the earliest. He added first priority was that the state revenue would not get affected at any cost. While talking to media the protesting shopkeepers said that they were poor people and were engaged in small business to earn their livelihood. "For the last sixty years due to the stoppage of passengers busses in the main bazaar either sides of the national highway at Lakhanpur was our main income. But shifting of this stoppage at newly constructed toll plaza has brought a problem on our livelihood and since the toll plaza is operating all buses are bound to stand which would hamper our business," they added. |
