JAMMU, Jan 22: Beating their opponents in the quarterfinals, defending champion, Government College for Women (GCW) Gandhi Nagar and GCW Parade today qualified for the semifinals of the ongoing inter-college women's volleyball tournament, organised by the Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu on the campus courts, here.
Now, both will meet each other in the semifinals, scheduled for tomorrow. Another team reaching the last four stages was Post Graduate (PG) Departments on getting walkovers in the first two rounds. In fact, only five teams turned up for the competition as against 16 figured in the fixture. Earlier, in the quarterfinals, GCW Parade defeated GDC Hiranagar 2-1 (25-17, 21-25, 15-13) while GCW Gandhi Nagar outplayed Government SPMR College of Commerce in straight sets of 25-08, 25-11. Today's matches were officiated by Shashi Sharma, Manisha Kumari and Sabita undner the guidance of Ramesh Sharma. |
