No new vehicle registration without identified personal parking
DIG emphasises abiding by traffic rules

Kishtwar, Jan 22 : Underlining the need to follow the traffic rules to avoid frequent accident in Chenab valley and other parts of the state, DIG traffic Jammu range Shakil Ahmed Beigh said that nearly 80 % accident took place due to human error and the cause behind the remaining 20% accident was fault in machinery and bad road condition of vehicle. DIG was addressing drivers and local public at traffic awareness camp at Bus Stand Kishtwar.
He in his address said that there is need to follow the traffic rules strictly so as to prevent the loss of precious lives. He urged the driver community to avoid rash driving,over loading, mobile phone, drinking driving and to avoid driving in case the driver is under any kind of stress including the stress of some family dispute. He said that they have formulated a proposal to ban use of mobile phone while driving and said that the mobile is the major cause for frequent accidents in hilly areas like mountainous Chenab valley. He said that responsibility also lied on passengers and general public to report rash and negligent driving to authorities. He also announce the revival of two decade old plan to check over speeding. He said that at each bus stand the department will appoint at least one person for issuing the slip to the driver of each vehicle at the time he left the station. He said that the said driver will hand over the same slip at next station and thus help them to check the time taken by the said vehicle to reach at its destination. While talking to the "Early Times", Mr. Beigh said that in order to check the traffic jams in Jammu city and its adjoining areas, the department has already submitted proposal of underground parking in different areas of Jammu. He said that beside construction of underground parking places, proposal for non registration of vehicle without being mentioning of specified parking place by the purchaser is also lying pending with the government.
