Jammu, Jan 22 : The Statement by union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde accusing BJP and RSS of running Hindu terrorist camps has major political ramifications in Jammu Kashmir, the worst sufferer of `Islamist terrorism.'
And, it's for this reason that response from the BJP and other Hindu organizations has been, on expected lines, quite strong, and they have decided to hold protest rallies across the State on Jan 24. In the two-decade of terrorism in the State, in which thousands of lives have been lost, Kashmiri Pandits from Kashmir and Hindus from Doda, Rajouri and Poonch have been forced to migrate, not a single act of terrorism had been committed by the Hindus. The State government, which had always been headed by Kashmir based parties, would have been more than eager to point out this fact had a single incident taken place. The fact that BJP and RSS didn't tread on the path of terrorism, at time when selective minority killings were taking place, and these two organizations had held sway over the sentiments of the people, and could have exploited it in a dangerous, yet diabolic method, clearly reflect the fact that home minister's statement is not based on the facts. At the height of terrorism in the State, had any act of Hindu terrorism taken place, it could have been easily wrapped under the carpet, and projected as an act of Pak sponsored terrorism. But that didn't take place. It's shows that these two organistions, which have clearly challenged the hegemony of Cong over Indian politics, are now being deliberately targeted, under the plan of the Congress, which it has termed as consolidation of secular votes, basically consolidation of Muslim votes, termed as pseudo-secularism by the BJP, thus challenging its political discourse. However, the biggest drawback of this statement would be that the separatists and also Kashmir centric main stream parties, would start the call for dismantling of Village Defence Committees. These Committees, by working against hard odds, and standing up against terrorists, had deflated the plan of Pak sponsored terrorists and separatists to engineer another exodus of Hindus from Doda, Rajouri and Poonch districts. They were backed by BJP and RSS, would given them (separatists) additional inputs for their call. However, the stark reality is they opposed terrorists and did kill them, which is quite opposite to the act of terrorism.
