| Pre-poll alliance between NC-Cong may not happen | | | Jammu, Jan 22 : With the coalition partners showing interest in strengthening their respective bases, the dream of `grand 2014 alliance' seems distant.
This became evident when Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah who is also the working president of National Conference installed his close aides on key positions in the party. After appointing Nasir Aslam Wani and Devender Singh Rana as provincial presidents of Kashmir and Jammu provinces, Omar conveyed in clear terms that party was his first priority. Omar did the overhauling after Congress leaders issued conflicting statements on pre-poll alliance.
Wani Tuesday urged the Kashmir based party leaders to stay back in valley and be available for people. He asked them not to move to Jammu or any other place without taking prior permission. Similarly the Congress leaders have put their infighting on hold and are concentrating on the party. It has dawned on them that the opportunity of mustering mass support is round the corner. They are dreaming of forming a government on their own and make no bones about it.
A senior Congress leader Abdul Gani Vakil Tuesday said that Congress will never prefer to be the B team of any party in the state in future.
Congress leaders believe that until Congress forms its own government in the state, their future will remain uncertain and will continue to be the B-team of other parties of the state. These Congress leaders are also on the job to convince their high command to go into Assembly elections alone to show better results. |
