| Reorganisation of J&K Which 'Ultimate Revolution' Bhim talks about? | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 23: The other day, the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) chief patron Bhim Singh urged the Jammu youth and students to "join Chetna Abhiyan to eradicate corruption, communalism and criminalisation in politics so that corrupt and criminal politicians are washed away with the tide of Ultimate Revolution". He also claimed that he had launched in right earnest a movement for reorganisation of Jammu and Kashmir and that his party believed that if the people of Jammu Pradesh, Ladakh and Kashmir valley were to lead a life of "dignity and honour," the reorganisation of the State is prerequisite. He said, "he had sounded bugle for the State's reorganisation". What Bhim Singh said was what all right-thinking people believe in and vouch for. Indeed, reorganisation of the State, according to many objective people, has become "imperative". For, they believe that the existing politico-administrative and Constitution has "outlived" its utility, with the people of Jammu Pradesh and Ladakh region convinced that the "only panacea available is the "State's division into three separate States". They are "fed up" with the "Kashmiri dominated unitary set-up" and they want to become "masters in their own respective houses" so that they could enjoy the "fruits" of what Bhim Singh called "Indian Constitution," the Jammu and Kashmir keen watchers opine. It is important to note that the people of Jammu Pradesh and Ladakh region have been demanding the State's reorganisation from November 1, 1947. And this is too well-known. This is an important issue that needs to be addressed and the sooner it is addressed, the better it would be for the country and the people of Jammu Pradesh, Kashmir valley and Ladakh region. The division of the State cannot be considered "anti-national" and "anti-Kashmir" as being suggested by certain elements in Kashmir and outside. The Indian Constitution does provide for creation of new States. In fact, post-1950 period witnessed the emergence of a number of States, including Punjab, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand and Jharkhand and there is also the possibility of Telangana region becoming a full-fledged State out of Andhra Pradesh. The basic weakness of the empowerment movement in Jammu Pradesh is that those who talk about it do not do any thing concrete to achieve the stated objective. They simply issue statements and hold press conferences and feel that they have done the job. Take, for example, Bhim Singh. In 2011, he made public what he called "Agenda 2011" with great pomp and show - agenda that, among other things, promised three separate assemblies, one each for Jammu Pradesh, Ladakh region and Kashmir valley; and three separate Chief Ministers, one each for Jammu Pradesh, Ladakh region and Kashmir valley. But he and his party did practically nothing to get the Agenda 2011 implemented. He repeated the same agenda in 2012 and again did nothing to achieve the stated objective. He has again set the same agenda for 2013, with the people not really attaching any importance to it believing that Bhim Singh and his party only indulge in "hollow sloganeering". Bhim Singh talks about "Ultimate Revolution". What does he know how revolutions take place. He has been demanding reorganisation of the State since years now, but without moving even an inch in that direction. He needs to sit up and retrospect. He is also required to ponder over why his party has failed to extend its influence beyond three Assembly constituencies. |
